Robert Charles Edner (born October 5, 1988 in Downey, California) is an American actor and singer; he is currently a member of the boy band, Varsity Fanclub.

Biography

Personal life

Bobby Edner was born as Robert Charles Edner (his nicknames are "Bud" or "Bubba"). He is the son of Bob and Cindy Edner, and he is of Jewish descent.¹²³. He is the older brother of actress Ashley Edner.⁴

Edner is a former member of the Hollywood Knights celebrity basketball team and a current member of the NBA Entertainment League (NBAE), assigned to the Bulls roster.⁵ When Edner joined the NBAE at 19, he was the youngest player in the league.⁶ In addition to playing basketball, Edner is also an avid golfer. Edner enjoys spending time with his family and close friends, and he maintained a 4.0 academic average while in high school.⁷

Career

Edner's feature film debut was in 1999's The Muse (film), working opposite Sharon Stone and Albert Brooks. In both 2000 and 2001, Edner received Young Artist Award nominations for Best Performance in a Television Movie (these were for Edner's compelling performance as Charlie Burden, Jr. in 2000's The Trial Of Old Drum, and his portrayal of an exceptional boy with supernatural powers in the 2001 HBO/Stan Winston remake of the Creature Feature (WTOG) TV series, The Day the World Ended).⁸

Edner has had over 30 guest starring roles on television programs, playing a broad range of diverse characters on shows such as Birds of Prey, ER, 7th Heaven, Charmed, Veronica Mars, Judging Amy, JAG, Touched By An Angel, and Philly.

In addition to his film and television work, major advertising agencies have featured Edner in numerous national commercials. Also, Edner has been a favorite choice for ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) roles, working on several features including Agent Cody Banks, Kangaroo Jack, Death to Smoochy and Monsters, Inc..⁹

Besides acting, Edner has also become proficient in singing, dancing, and even songwriting.

In 2003, Edner and his Spy Kids co-star Alexa Vega sang "Heart Drive", a song which is available on the Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over soundtrack. Edner sang this song for the film's world premiere July 25, 2003 in Austin, Texas. Edner has also lent his vocal talent to the video game industry by providing the voice of the protagonist Vaan in the game Final Fantasy XII. In 2006, Edner was an original member of the pop group NLT, but quit the band soon after its formation.¹⁰¹¹

In the field of dance, Edner is best recognized for his dancing homage to Michael Jackson in the Alien Ant Farm cover of "Smooth Criminal", which was MTV's second most requested video of the year 2001. Edner also danced in Jennifer Lopez's music video "Ain't it Funny" directed by famed fashion photographer Herb Ritts.¹²

Edner has also exhibited his songwriting skills, having co-written the lyrics and music of the song "Alone" with pop star Ryan Cabrera.¹³

Currently, Edner is singing, dancing, and writing songs as part of the American boyband Varsity Fanclub with bandmates David Lei Brandt, TC (Thomas Carter), Jayk Purdy, and Drew Ryan Scott.
