Natalie Horler was born on September 23, 1981. As the front line singer, she is often presented as Cascada, as opposed to the entire band. When she was 16, she worked for a number of various DJs. She provided vocals for dance act 2 Vibez with their song "Sometimes", which was released on October 8, 2004. Eventually, she met Yann Peifer and Manuel Reuter. Horler was born in Bonn, Germany. Horler's parents are English; she speaks fluent English without a German accent.
Manuel Reuter, known professionally as DJ Manian, is a German producer, trance DJ, label owner of Zooland Records. He works alongside fellow DJ Yanou to produce the music and create the sounds. DJ Manian has produced a number of singles under various pseudonyms, and maintains a number of different musical projects, including Tune Up! (with Yanou, now defunct), Spencer & Hill (with producer Manuel Schleis), Bulldozzer, M.Y.C., Ampire, Liz Kay. Manian's songs often feature on the infamous Clubland compilation CDs.. He is well known for his track "Welcome To The Club". Manian stated on his twitter that he is working on his upcoming album and single Ravers in the UK.
Yann Peifer, known professionally as Yanou, is a German trance musician and producer. He collaborated with DJ Sammy on the chart-breaking hit "Heaven" with vocalist Do. He produces music for Cascada alongside DJ Manian and Horler. He has ended Everytime We Touch with his signature "Candlelight Mix" of the title track and Perfect Day with a Candlelight Mix of What Hurts The Most.
Cascada's first single Miracle was released in Germany and the United States in November 2004, but was re-released in America in on May 23rd, 2006, and June 22nd, 2007 in Germany. They single was later released in France where it spent 1 week at the #1 spot, and it went top 10 in Ireland, United Kingdom and The Netherlands. Cascada then released Bad Boy, which was only released in Germany and Austria, peaking at #42 on the German chart.
Their breakthrough single (and sometimes noted as their signature song) Everytime We Touch, was released in Canada and the US in 2005, and went to #10 on the U.S. Billboard 100, being certified double platinum. It aslo went #1 on the Billboard Dance Radio Airplay. The single went top 10 in the UK, Canada, France, Germany and Austria, but an impressive #1 in Ireland and Sweden. It went double platinum in Sweden, becoming one of the best selling singles there, where-as in Ireland, the single spent 2 weeks on the top spot. The song also borrows the chorus from Maggie Reilly's 1992 track of the same name. The song also helped them win "Best Selling German Artist" at the World Music Awards 2007.
In September 2005, Cascada released an exclusive release to Germany, a cover of Roxette's single How Do You Do!. It has become a fan favourite off the album, and is peformed at many of her global appearances.
Their next international single Truly Madly Deeply (A Cover of Savage Garden's 1997 hit), went top 10 in Ireland and the UK, and peaked just outside the top 10 in Sweden at #11.
In March 2006, Cascada released "A Neverending Dream, and it peaked a good #15 on the German chart, but peaked #5 on the Finnish charts. It was released as the fourth UK single in June 2007, peaking at #15 on the Irish chart, but a low and disappointing #46 in the UK, considering all previous singles had gone top 10.
In September 2006, Cascada released an EP with a promo single "Ready for Love" exclusive to Germany, featuring album track "Love Again". Also, "Wouldn't It Be a Good" was released as an exclusive release to Sweden, peaking at #50 on the chart.
During that time, Cascada released their debut album "Everytime We Touch" which was released in the U.S., Germany, Sweden, China, Japan, France and other countries. It was re-released in 2007 in Germany, and later released to the UK and Ireland where it charted at #2 and the latter at #1. It finally got released in Australia in 2008.
In 2007, Cascada became the 4th best selling group, and were only only beaten by global successes Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse and KT Tunstall.citation needed
Horler first announced that Cascada was working on their second album (Perfect Day) during a Japanese interview in July 2006, which was posted on their blog on MySpace.1 The worldwide lead single, "What Hurts the Most", was released in late 2007 and early 2008, along with its B-side, a cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas". It became Cascada's second best selling single in the United States, certifying gold.
In February 2008, Cascada released What Do You Want from Me?, which has become one of their lowest chartest singles, peaking at the top 50 in Austria, Germany, Slovakia and the UK.
On June 30, 2008, it was announced that the second single for the United States and Canada was "Faded" which appeared only on the North American version of Perfect Day. "Because the Night" became available as a digital download on this date as well in Europe, and received a physical release on August 4, 2008, the UK was the only country that had it's highest offical position at #28, where-as it charted within the top 40, 50 and 60 in Austria, Germany and Slovakia. "Perfect Day" was released as last single from Perfect Day as a CD maxi single in North America on February 17, 2009.
In the United Kingdom, a platinum edition of Perfect Day was set to be released on October 20, 2008, which was to feature the American tracks and a DVD with live performances from Clubland Live 2008, Horler's favorite Cascada music videos, an exclusive interview with her, a photo gallery and an acoustic performance of "Another You" in the studio with Yanou on piano. There was no further word about the album being released, and it was later canceled.
On April 10, 2008, Horler announced that work on the third album would soon commence and that the album would be released in 2009. Jo Whiley announced on her Radio 1 show that Coldplay's Chris Martin will work with Cascada, but this was later confirmed false by Horler. Producer Yanou confirmed that the single and album would be released around June and also stated there would be no cover versions on the album. Evacuate the Dancefloor was released on July 6 in the United Kingdom and Germany. The lead single and title track of the album "Evacuate the Dancefloor" was released on June 29, 2009 in Europe and later in July in the United States, peaking at #1 in the UK for 2 weeks, becoming their first #1 there, #1 on the US Dance Chart and #1 in Denmark. It went top 10 in many European countries, and also Canda and New Zealand.
On May 28, an album launch party was held in London, where Horler performed tracks off the new album; "Breathless", "Draw the Line" and "Dangerous". "Breathless" and "Dangerous" have a typical hands-up "Cascada style", while "Draw the Line" is a ballad. The album was initially released in the United Kingdom on July 3, 2009 and was released in other European countries and North America in the following months. It has a completely different feel than the previous two albums. Different bass lines and new instrument sounds contrast to the traditional style of Cascada of which was the only styling used in previous songs.
On July 17, it was announced that Cascada would be the opening act for Britney Spears' The Circus Starring: Britney Spears tour, at the O2 World in Berlin, Germany on July 26, 2009.2.
"Fever" became the second single from the album in most countries including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and was released in early October.
Cascada's United Kingdom label AATW decided to release "Dangerous" in the UK and Ireland as the second single, but was confirmed by Horler on a radio interview that it would be released in France as well, it failed to chart except for the UK where it charted at #67.
Ready or Not was mentioned as the third single for the UK, but in November 2009, "Fever" started recieving airplay on the radio and music channels. It is also featured on "Clubland 16" in the UK. It has been confirmed as the third single for the UK and Ireland, and as the second single for Australia.
Before Cascada's third album, Horler didn't receive much media attention. However, following the success of Evacuate The Dancefloor, she has become, in the words of Digital Spy, a 'Star'.3 Her face has appeared in many daily newspapers such as 'The Sun' and the 'Daily Star'.
In the autumn of 2006, Horler made her first foray into television as the guest host of the viewer request show Back @ Ya on bpm:tv, a Toronto-based cable channel that broadcasts all across Canada and some parts of the United States. bpm:tv specializes in playing dance and electronica music videos. That same year, she appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly to promote Everytime We Touch.
Horler has also presented 'The Clubland Top 50' on the UK music channel 4Music, as well as the 'MTV Dance Top 50'. She has performed on various television shows, mainly in Europe. Among them is UK breakfast show GMTV: in December 2007, she performed "Last Christmas" live there to promote the UK version of Perfect Day; on July 28, 2008, she performed "Because the Night" live; and on July 3, 2009, she performed "Evacuate the Dancefloor" to promote its namesake album. On 18 September 2009 she appeared on the UK EuroMillions lottery performing "Dangerous".
