SHeDAISY (pronounced /ʃəˈdeɪzi/) is a Grammy Award-nominated American country music group founded in the late 1980s by sisters Kristyn Robyn Osborn (born August 24, 1970), Kelsi Marie Osborn (b. November 21, 1974), and Kassidy Lorraine Osborn (b. October 30, 1976), all natives of Magna, Utah. The group's name is derived from a Navajo term meaning "my (little) sister".

The trio was initially known as The Osborn Sisters. Signed to the Nashville division of RCA Records, they recorded one album which was never released. By 1999, they had assumed the name SHeDAISY and had signed to Lyric Street Records. Their first album to be released, The Whole SHeBANG, was issued that year and has been certified platinum in the United States. A Christmas album titled Brand New Year was released in 2000. Knock on the Sky was issued in 2002, followed by 2004's gold-certified Sweet Right Here, 2006's Fortuneteller's Melody and 2008's The Best of SHeDAISY, a compilation.

Counting two Christmas singles, SHeDAISY has charted 15 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. These include the Top Ten hits "Little Good-Byes", "This Woman Needs", "I Will… But", and "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing".

History

SHeDAISY began singing at an early age, performing for relatives in their hometown of Magna, Utah. They sold tickets to neighborhood shows2 and sang to the residents of local retirement homes. Eventually, they performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Utah Jazz home games. After moving to Nashville, Tennessee, they worked similar shifts at different department stores since they had to share one car, which they collectively owned.3 Kassidy is the lead vocalist of the group, with Kelsi singing high harmony and Kristyn on low harmony.citation needed

All three of the sisters are Latter-day Saints.4

Kristyn is the group's veteran songwriter, writing or co-writing every song recorded on SHeDAISY's studio albums, aside from "God Bless The American Housewife."

Early on SHeDAISY worked closely with Jason Deere, a Mormon song-writer in Nashville who was a native of Oklahoma, served a mission in Las Vegas, studied at Brigham Young University and received his bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was also their producer when they were signed by Lyric Street.5

Recording career

1989 â€“ 1998

The three sisters first performed as The Osborn Sisters. In 1989, they were signed to RCA Records, and recorded an album which was never released.1 Kristyn stated that the record being scrapped was a blessing in disguise, stating: "I learned how we had been taken advantage of. We recorded a project for RCA that never got released. That album was missing something and it taught me a lesson. We did what we were told. We didn't stand up for ourselves because we were so young. We were told to do a song and we did it. There were only three of our songs on there." 6

They spent over five years working in mall department stores and playing night clubs while Kristyn began attending classes at a local university to learn every aspect of the music business. Later on, the three sisters began performing under the name SHeDAISY, derived from a Navajo term meaning "my (little) sister".7

1999 â€“ 2001: The Whole SHeBANG

SHeDAISY was signed to Lyric Street Records in 1999. The trio's debut album, The Whole SHeBANG, was released that same year under the production of Dann Huff. Its first three singles — 1999's "Little Good-Byes" (#3) and "This Woman Needs" (#9), along with 2000's "I Will… But" (#2) — were all Top Ten hits on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. The album's fourth single, "Lucky 4 You (Tonight I'm Just Me)" fell just shy of Top Ten, while 2001's "Still Holding Out For You" peaked at #27. The Whole SHeBANG was certified platinum in the United States, for sales of one million copies. The album spent 99 weeks on the Billboard Country Albums Chart.6 A remixed version of the trio's debut album, titled The Whole SHeBANG: All Mixed Up, was issued in late 2001 and made its debut at #30 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart.8

SHeDAISY made an appearance on the Disney Channel television program So Weird in 1999 and the ABC Network program The Drew Carey Show in 2001. .9

A CMT special featuring SHeDAISY performing many of the songs from The Whole SHeBANG live in-concert aired February 9, 2000.10

They released a Christmas album titled Brand New Year in September 2000. This album's renditions of "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls" both entered the country music charts. In addition, SHeDAISY hosted a Christmas special titled A SHeVERY Merry Christmas, on The Nashville Network (a television network now known as Spike TV).

2002 â€“ 2003: Knock on the Sky

Knock on the Sky was the title of SHeDAISY's second album, issued in 2002. Though the album made its debut at number 3 on Billboard's country album chart, its singles did not fare as well as their debut album. Only two singles were issued from the album: "Get Over Yourself" and "Mine All Mine", which peaked at #27 and #28 on the country singles charts, respectively. The latter song was also featured on the soundtrack for the 2002 film Sweet Home Alabama and featured a video including clips from the movie. The album quickly fell off the sales charts. Despite the low sales numbers, SHeDAISY referred to the album as their best and most artistic album.11

On January 2, 2003, SHeDAISY sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "I Will... But" at the half-time show of the Orange Bowl.12

2004 â€“ 2005: Sweet Right Here

SHeDAISY returned to the country music charts in 2004 with the single "Passenger Seat", the lead-off to their third studio album Sweet Right Here. "Passenger Seat" peaked at #12 on the Billboard country charts, in addition to reaching Top 10 on the Radio & Records country singles charts. Sweet Right Here was released on June 8, 2004, debuting at #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts; in addition, the album achieved a gold certification from the RIAA, for sales of over 500,000 copies.

The album's second single, "Come Home Soon", was issued in late 2004. A first-person ballad about a woman wishing for her husband to come back home from fighting war overseas, "Come Home Soon" also inspired sales of special "Come Home Soon" bracelets, the proceeds of which went to the American Red Cross.13 "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing", the third single from Sweet Right Here, became SHeDAISY's first Top Ten hit in five years, reaching a peak of #7.

Country music artist LeAnn Rimes also recorded a song co-written by Kristyn Osborn, titled "I Dare You", for her 2005 album This Woman. SHeDAISY also included their version of the song on Sweet Right Here.

2006 â€“ 2007: Fortuneteller's Melody

Fortuneteller's Melody was the title of SHeDAISY's fourth (sixth overall) studio album. For the record, Kristyn co-wrote tracks with artist Sheryl Crow and the album's producer, John Shanks. Released in 2006, it produced two minor hit singles on the country music charts: "I'm Taking the Wheel" and "In Terms of Love", the latter of which was co-written by veteran songwriter Don Schlitz. After a strong debut at #6 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, the album quickly fell of the charts by the end of 2006.

SHeDAISY also contributed the song "God Bless the American Housewife" for a special compilation titled Music from and Inspired by Desperate Housewives. The song was never released as a single in the U.S., but was a Top 20 hit in Canada with the alternate title, "God Bless The Canadian Housewife".14 A music video was also made for it. The song was also included on Fortuneteller's Melody.

In 2007, Canadian singer/songwriter Jann Arden recorded a song she co-wrote with Kristyn entitled 'Counterfeit Heart' for her album, Uncover Me. Kristyn also lends background vocals to two tracks.

Also in 2007, the trio recorded a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About" for the soundtrack to the film The Guardian. Country music singer Carmen Rasmusen recorded a song written by Kristyn entitled 'Stranded' for her debut album, Nothin' Like the Summer.

2008 â€“ present: The Best of SHeDAISY and A Story to Tell

SHeDAISY released their first greatest hits package, The Best of SHeDAISY, on February 5, 2008. This album included the greatest hits from their first four studio albums (not counting the Christmas album).15

In mid-2008, SHeDAISY and their song "23 Days" were featured in an advertising campaign for the Sleep Number bed created by Select Comfort. The TV commercial initially aired the night of March 20, 2008.16

In July 2008, SHeDAISY was a featured performer on the Walt Disney Records compilation, Country Sings Disney. The song they sang is called "Baby Mine" and is cover of the song featured in the Walt Disney movie Dumbo.

SHeDAISY will release their fifth studio album, A Story to Tell in 2009.17 The album was produced by Canadian pop singer Jann Arden. Previews of two new songs ("A 2 Me" and "Mr. McLennen") have gone up on their official website. The title of the album is derived from lyrics in "Mr. McLennen".

Family and personal life

The sisters are from a family of six children (four sisters and two brothers). Their other siblings are Clayton, Cade, and Karli. In 2006, when Kelsi was pregnant, the youngest Osborn sister, Karli, took her place for the Fortunteller's Melody summer tour;7 In July 2006, Kelsi, with her husband Steve Simpson, gave birth to twin girls, Savannah Marie and Adyson Amilia.18

Kristyn is close friends with singer-songwriter Jann Arden, who produced the trio's fifth studio album, A Story to Tell.

Kassidy was previously involved in a two-year romance with Rascal Flatts guitarist and labelmate Joe Don Rooney. The couple parted ways in 2003.19 She married Derek Williamson on May 28, 2009.202122

Kristyn was previously married to Joel Stevenett for eight years until their divorce in 2002. Some of the songs from album Knock on the Sky are written about her divorce.

Kristyn was involved in a relationship with actor Aaron Eckhart from 2006-2007. The actor appears in the SHeDAISY video for 'I'm Taking The Wheel'.23
